Congratulations!
We had a tough time coming up with a winner for the Forsnowboarding x Grafik Armor Snowboard Graphic Design Contest. There were a lot of great entries submitted over the course of the contest from many talented people, but at the end of the day it was Zsolt Varga AKA Sekond who took home the grand prize. Zsolt will get his design turned into a custom one of a kind Grafik Armor decal wrap. Second place goes to Matt Fisher of Provoke Creative, with a great sketch design. Matt will get a Grafik Armor decal wrap of his choice from current lineup. Thanks again to everyone for participating! Better images of the board designs after the jump.

Now Forsnowboarding, Grafik Armor, and guest judge Mike Orduña (Fatoe) will look through the entries and officially announce the winners on Friday, March 5th. Nike 6.0 Greatest Hits Contest

Nike 6.0, which is Nike’s offshoot action-sport brand, is having a contest where they give you the opportunity to vote for one of six cool features that could possibly become the next best obstacle at the Greatest Hits Park in Mt. Seymour. The features in question include the Calgary Triple Green Rails, The Montreal Big O Pyramids, Vancouver Delbrook, Utah Rail Gardens, Utah Wallride, and Vermont Double Set.

I Am Snowboarding

For a good cause
In honor of Jeff Anderson’s 30th birthday and to raise money for the JLA Memorial Fund, a group of world-renowned photographers and artists, friends of Jeff and of snowboarding have come together to create a unparalleled body of work titled, I AM SNOWBOARDING.

The concept works though which one photographer is paired with one artist to create an original 30” x 40” piece. A photo of Jeff, shot by the photographer, has been enlarged onto archival canvas upon which the artist paints or uses any medium to create a unique collaborative work. The resulting pieces are one of a kind, the partnerships formed in this project a tribute to the depth of the snowboarding, skateboarding and art communities. Aries 2010 Time Capsule Program

Back to the future or something
Something a bit different but cool none the less. We’re always keen on hearing about the old school days of snowboarding here on Forsnowboarding, so it was refreshing to see what Nike and Nemo Design are doing to preserve the sport and lifestyle. Inspired by Voyager 1 and 2—spacecrafts launched in 1977 to carry the sounds and images of life on earth to alien planetary systems—the Aries 2010 Time Capsule Program is a receptacle of all things snowboarding, from memorabilia and trick schematics to film, photography, and personality. The Aries itself was conceived and designed by artist Brian Addison Elliot, and is set to debut during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver BC. The Aries will be on display at the Boardroom Snowboard Shop and will be accompanied by a Nemo-curated museum of snowboarding relics. if you’re going to be in the area during that time, definitely hit it up!

Ride’s Annual Snowboard Art Contest

Ride Snowboards is gearing up for another year of Snowboard Art Contest. Now in it’s 8th year, the contest kicks off November 18th, with art submissions due December 11th. This year there will be an online gallery with all submissions on display, and the top 30 and prize winners’ snowboard art from the contest will be on display at the TimesInfinity Gallery in Seattle for the entire month of February. REI x Arbor Snowboard Design Contest

Design Contest
REI teams up with Arbor Snowboards to put on a snowboard design contest this November.
Visitors to REI.com vote thumbs-up or thumbs-down on the contest entries. The top 5 vote-getters move into the final round on 1/10/10. Judges from Arbor will review the top 5 vote-getters and select the winner on 1/15/10. Arbor will build a snowboard featuring the winning design in fall 2010. It will be sold exclusively at REI. The winning designer will receive the board featuring their design and a $1,000 REI gift card. Four runners-up will each receive a $500 REI gift card. Contest starts November 2nd, if that’s your bag then get to work, the entry deadline is December 31st! More info here.

Celsius Snowboard Footwear is running a design contest where they will be accepting ideas and concepts for new boot designs. The Celsius team will choose the 3 best boot designs and have them featured on the website. The winner will more than likely get their boot produced by Celsius.
