Return of the Kass
Next season’s Nike Snowboarding lineup debuts their first signature model for none other than Danny Kass. The Danny Kass Signature Boot was designed with Danny and features artwork and branding by Mark Dean Veca. The boot has a more streamlined appearance and features ergonomic shell contruction, premium compression molded, synthetic leather wrapped phylon midsole with embedded zoom air in heel, heat Moldable Liner for custom fit, and a ton more features that you’ll have to wait til the Fall to find out. Bonus points go to the Dunk inspired “winglike” ankle strap for added style. Look for this model in two colorways releasing in September and October this year.

Burton Snowboards x Starks Laces Hail Boot

Get Laced
In other collaboration, get-together, and teaming-up news from the SIA, we see an interesting one that makes a whole lotta sense, coming straight from the Burton booth this year. Burton makes great boots. Starks Laces makes great laces. For 2011, they got together to collaborate on a special model of the Burton Hail boot, featuring Starks laces. The boot takes cues from hunting with it’s real-tree camouflage, quilted panels and safety orange accents. Look for this model next season!

Nike Snowboarding 2011 Boot Preview

New Kicks
With SIA this past weekend, there was an opportunity to see much of what is coming down the pipes gear-wise for next year’s riding season. This current season saw the introduction of this technical boot from Nike Snowboarding, released with an ACG inspired colorway as a throwback from the archives of Nike. What we see coming in 2011 for the Zoom Air Kaiju is no different, as Nike likes to use their resources to add to the aesthetics of these boots. This time around there is an obvious poke at the tech challenge tennis sneakers from the Agassi days, as well as one that touches more on the color palette made famous by late 80’s Jordans. For snowboarders that are also sneaker heads, and for those with taste, next season is looking good to pick up a pair of Kaijus.

Next season also sees the introduction of a pro model for Nike Snowboarding. Headliner Danny Kass will also receive his own pro model boot, both in purple and red colorways. Minimal looking compared to the ZF1, and a throwback style 70’s swoosh on the side. More info as it comes from SIA.

K2 Snowboarding x Original Penguin

To add some flavor to their already impressive lineup, K2 Snowboarding got together with clothing brand Original Penguin to work on a special offering for the 2010 season. A freestyle-oriented board, boot and binding were done up in Original Penguin’s distinct vintage styling and K2’s high-performance technology. Refreshing design, clean and simple. Nike Snowboarding Danny Kass Double Tongue ZF1 2010

Nike Snowboarding is set to deliver a Quickstrike Danny Kass Double-Tongue ZF-1 for a second year in a row. Hot on the heels of last year’s DK Yellow Snow DK-YS boot which was collaborated on with illustrator Arbito, this year’s model won’t let down, with a theme inspired by space and and accompanying “Mission 82″ viral video campaign that will go down in 4 parts. The boots are modeled after retro style space gear and feature metallic silver leather, a clear sole with graphics that could be seen through them, and US and Canadian flags on the tongues. Look for these at select Nike Snowboarding retailers this December.

In what may be the first of its kind for snowboard training, Danny Kass plans to pave the way for snowboard rotation progression by attempting a never before heard of 9000 spin. In order to accomplish such a spectacular feat, the only place to train for this is on the moon. Danny has spent the last thirty days in a simulated moon environment alongside fellow astronaut/chimpanzee Champ in preparation for their forthcoming journey to the moon. adidas Originals Snowboard Boot

Back in the day when adidas owned the Salomon Group they had all kinds of access to all kinds of crazy things. These are a pair of adidas Snowboard boots modelled after the adidas Originals Forum mid sneaker, one of the best sneakers to get down in back in the day. The boot was most likely derived from a Salomon boot platform, but all the styling goes to adidas Originals. 50 pairs were created for VIPs and friends of adidas, with no other pairs expected to be made after that.

Sneak Peak
Nike Snowboarding is dropping a quickstrike edition Zoom Force 1 boot for Danny Kass this December. Similar to the Zoom Force 1 boot that was released last season in collaboration with artist Arbito, this boot also features a double tongue as part of its design, and appear to have a great campaign behind them. First Look: Nike Snowboarding Zoom Air Kaiju Boot

Nike Zoom Air Kaiju
Japanese for “strange beast”, it’s no surprise that the Nike Snowboarding Zoom Air Kaiju snowboard boot is a monster of a release for Nike’s snow division this season. We had originally posted a glimpse of the boot when it surfaced after the SIA trade show, but now we have all the info on the features and tech that make this boot a must-have for riding this season.

The Zoom Force One could be considered the flagship model for Nike Snowboarding’s boot lineup, but its tech-ed out cousin the Zoom Air Kaiju is the new contender, crammed with enough features that would make you think twice that it was only meant for snowboarding.

The Kaiju uses some of Nike’s newer proprietary technology in order to give an overall comfort and supportive experience when out riding. More technical looking than the ZF1, there are many hidden features and cues of sneakers past embedded into the boot.

Features
The boot upper features a webbing lace system with a neoprene eye-stay that allows for easy tightening with the provided Nike snow lace locks at the fourth hoop, for zonal tightening. No need for re-tightening the entire boot, you can save time and still stay supported. No-weld stitching is in the toe area to protect against edge abrasion when you’re out of your bindings. The elephant pattern on the toe brings it back to the Air Jordan days too, a nice touch on the style side.

The Kaiju’s cuff is partly made out of neoprene to allow for freedom of movement and comfort, and there are support trusses with reinforced stitching in the upper quarter for maximum support with minimal material.

There is an articulating Flywire cuff integrated on the inside of the boot for increased heel-hold while decreasing the bulk around your ankle, keeping everything light weight, yet still supportive. A full length one-piece TPU backstay rounds things off in the back of the boot for better flex and rear protection against binding wear.

The Kaiju rocks a low profile Free sole, technology commonly found in Nike’s running shoes, but brought over to their snowboarding platform for the first time in order to get the benefits of comfort, flexibility, and increased board feel. A Zoom air unit is embedded in phylon for some more cushion for those hard impact landings.

All in all, the Zoom Air Kaiju is the boot to look out for this winter, great style and packed with features to keep you feet happy. A solid release from Nike Snowboarding

With Nike ACG’s 20th anniversary in full-swing, we’ve been seeing a lot of retro footwear being re-released over the year. Let’s not forget some of the new models that they are releasing as well, soon to be future classics like the Zoom Ashiko Flywire Boot, shown here in a Total Orange colorway. Nike Snowboarding Zoom Kaiju Boot

Kaiju is the Future
Next season’s boot offering from Nike Snowboarding looks to be promising with the introduction of their second model, the Zoom Kaiju. This is a more technical style boot compared to their initial Zoom Force 1, and offers a host of new features. The most notable being a Nike Free sole with zoom air cushioning, which gives better feel and better impact resistance. A one piece TPU backing in the rear helps prevent wear and tear from binding crunch, while offering greater flex front-to-back. The boots will come in four colorways and retail for $350 USD. Available in 09/10.

JB Classics Lab x Ride Snowboards Collection

FUL Blood
Independent footwear brand JB Classics joined forces with Ride Snowboards for a second time to develop a special collection of design driven products. The collection consisted of a Ride x JB Classics FUL boot, Alpha MVMNT binding, and Society board, all treated in a gruesome blood splatter theme. The products were released through Ride’s Artist Series and are backed up by a limited edition pair of Peddler sneakers from JB to tie things together.

Peter Saville For DC Snowboards

Unknown Pleasure
Peter Saville, known for his work with Factory Records and a legendary designer in his own right, has collaborated with DC Snowboards this season to produce a line of gear with his iconic style. DC will be releasing boards, boots, outerwear and soft-goods adorned with an updated contour graphic reminiscent of Saville’s 1979 cover art for Joy Divisions “Unknown Pleasure” album. Nike Snowboarding x Arbito Danny Kass Zoom Force 1

Don’t drink the yellow snow DK-YS
The second artist-based collaboration from Nike Snowboarding has Seattle-based artist Arbito doing the graphics for Danny Kass’ signature Zoom Force 1 boot. The very colorful all-over pattern is reminiscent of everything psychedelic and wild, and fit perfectly with Danny’s swagger. Arbito’s drawings extend into a collection of t-shirts, poster and jacket, which are available at select retailers that carry the line. The DK-YS microsite ties everything together with a great video to put everything in context. Check it!
